My own little IKEA Rast hack

Inspired by blogs like ikeahackers.net I let my creativity go wild with my old Rast nightstand, probably the most frequently hacked piece of furniture ever.
I had painted it plain white right after I got it, but now, a year later, it needed a bit more style. I added some IKEA gift wrapping paper to the front of the drawers using Mod Podge and then some wooden slats with some heavy duty double sided tape. The bottom got a nice big baseboard all around and for the top I got a plain untreated board, which I painted with a dark varnish to give it a classic walnut colored look.
Overall a nice weekend project.

    That is absolutely beautiful!

  2. Awesome! Heavy duty double stick tape? And it holds wood? I’ll have to find that stuff! thanks for sharing.

(I’m here via The cottage Market.)

Thanks, Holly! Yes, the tape is still going strong. I used that for the drawers, those slats aren’t heavy at all. However the wood glue that I used for the molding at the bottom – came right off when I moved a few months ago :-) Nothing that can’t be easily fixed though.
