I've been running around my neighbourhood with my camera the other day. I love this season, the weather, the light. The leaves were on the verge of turning, but not quite there yet. All of these were taken about 5 minutes from our house and then run through my current favourite little playtoy: Camera Bag, a program that'll recreate the coloring and feel of old-time films and photos. I found some neat ideas for a flower arrangement in a magazine and I replicated it for my birthday. It uses a small round pumpkin as vase which I thought was super cute although most people didn't even notice the pumpkin inbetween all the flowers. (more...)

After the disappointing first take on my usual cupcake favourite - Red Velvet - we tried something different: we just used a simple but good vanilla recipe and colored it red. No, I know, not the right way to do it, but so far much better than the first try. I actually just found the Magnolia RVC recipe, so that one is next on my list!

For this one I had help with my cousin and I gotta say it's fun to do this together. She had never baked cupcakes before so she was quite excited. And she made the cutest frosting dollops (more...)

This time I tried some more fruity versions of our little treats - in miniature format so I could spread the joy and have people test them. These are strawberry cupcakes with strawberry buttercream and banana cupcakes with a declicious honey cinnamon frosting. I thought both were super yummy, however the banana cakes were either loved or hated, so you have to see for yourself. (more...)
